McClimans
Takes Willis!
In a highly anticipated rematch for Houston-area
boxing fans, Heavyweights "Third Ward" Billy Willis
of Houston and "Crazy" Robbie McClimans of Conroe
squared off in a scheduled six-round contest. It was
a satisfying and evenly matched slugfest, with each
fighter landing several solid shots through six
rounds.

..
McClimans won a unanimous decision during their
first meeting in July of 2006 in Pasadena, Texas.
The 35-year-old Willis, who brought a record of
12-14-1 with 9 KO's promised to be busier this time
around.
McClimans came into the fight with a record of 6-5-2
with 2 KO's, and he was coming off a unanimous
six-round decision win over Aaron Lyons in Kinder,
Louisiana in June.
While Willis was successful early with the body attack, McClimans weathered the storm and the fight ebbed
and flowed through rounds two and three.

"Iron"
Wallops Wagenblast!
Jr. Welterweight
"Iron" Aliceo Castaneda of Houston took on Michael
Wagenblast of Batesville, Arkansas!
See Round One!
..
Castaneda brought a
record of 6-1 with 3 KO's and had won his last two
fights by knockout.
Wagenblast brought a
record of 1-0 and was coming off a third round TKO
over previously undefeated Chris "Hollywood"
Hernandez in Houston on August 6th. But in this case
he bit off more than he could chew. Castaneda's
superior boxing ability and experience were too much
for the game slugger from Arkansas.
Castaneda was
moving up a little in weight to fight at 138 lbs.,
having fought most of his previous fights at closer
to 130 lbs., as a junior lightweight.
Castaneda
boxed skillfully and still landed solid
power shots, breaking down Wagenblast
through rounds two and three.
Wagenblast
suffered cuts under both eyes but
showed he has a fair chin and delivered some
nice shots to Castaneda as well, as the game
young fighters continued to try to come
forward for much of the bout.

" El Tigre" Eliminates "The Assassin"
Lopez methodically dismantled
another marginal opponent as he searches for a
significant bout and payday.....
See round one below!
..
Lopez, from Cut 'n Shoot, Texas, brought a record of
15-0 with 12 KO's while Norwood came in at 26-11-2
with 13 KO's.
The 42-year-old
Norwood, from Hattiesburg, Mississippi, was coming
off a 4th round TKO loss to Glen Johnson in Florida
in November of 2008. Norwood's most significant
fight was a 10-round unanimous decision loss to
Rubin Williams in challenging for the IBU
Intercontinental Middleweight title in Michigan in
January of 2005
Norwood opened with a
fairly aggressive charge but it became evident
relatively early that despite the display os some
wily skills he had acquired over his long career,
"The Assassin" was no longer in any position to
stand for long against someone of "El Tigre's"
caliber. At super middleweight Lopez looks quite
slim but he clearly retains his power
See round two below!
..
It seemed clear Lopez
was actually carrying Norwood during the latter half
of round three after hurting him with a couple of
solid combination. The referee eyed Norwood very
closely between rounds and his corner asked him if
he wanted to continue. Norwood said he did but it
was a foregone conclusion.
