Chris Henry of Orange, Texas continues his march to the title with a pounding over potential rival Derrick James of Dallas!!!!

Henry Jolts James!!

Is Chris Henry "The Man" at 175 lbs.? He and his handlers would assert that to be the case. He offered a reasonable argument in dispatching someone who on paper might have appeared to be in his league, but who clearly was not..

Henry's superior power was evident early, as he pounded James into the ropes and used a big right hand to score a knockdown late in the round.

Round two began messy, with the James doing some holding and tackling, and the fighters tumbling to the canvas. But Henry continued to blast.

James landed a counter right but another right hand put James down again.

Henry continued chasing James in round three.

James did land some solid shots.

But James' punches seemed to have little effect on Henry, whose last fight was against the 256-lb heavyweight Rafael Pedro on June 2nd in Louisiana, when Henry won a ten-round unanimous decision.

Henry continued to heap on the punishment in round four, at which point James began to repeatedly complain to the referee that Henry was hitting him in the back of the head.

Henry ripped big shots to the head and body in round five, and James answered back with several shots to the head of Henry. But another right from Henry sent James down again.

By round six it was evident that James did not wish to be in the ring, and a left hook from Henry sent him down for the third and final time. The fight was over at 1:06 of the sixth round.

Henry retains his N.A.B.F Light heavyweight title belt, remaining undefeated at 21-0 with 17 KO's. James falls to 20-7-1 with 11 KO's.

"He came to fight," said Henry after the match. "He kept getting up after he got knocked down. He used his head a lot. He tried to head butt me."

Henry is currently ranked 4th in the world by the World Boxing Council.

"I'm trying to get to that number one spot," he said,  "trying to get that world title shot."

White Crumples Crawford!

In his pro debut, super middleweight Cornelius White of Missouri City, Texas made short work of Jason Crawford of El Dorado, Arkansas.

It didn't take long. A quick left jab to the jaw from White sent Crawford to the canvas, and the fight was over in just 55 seconds.

Crawford falls to 0-2.

Adams Assaults Johnson!

Welterweight Jerome Adams of Dallas outslugged a more experienced Starr Johnson of Killeen, Texas.

Johnson landed a right hand early in round one, while Adams swung wildly and missed.

Johnson came back with a left to the face, but then Adams began landing the right hand.

The fighters opened round two with a series of frenzied exchanges.

Johnson landed a right to the face of Adams, but later in the round Adams launched back with a left and then a right hand to the chin of Johnson, sending him to the canvas.

The fighters continued to trade shots throughout, but in the end all three judges scored the bout 39-36 for Adams.

Adams improves to 2-1. Johnson falls to 3-16-1 with 2 KO's.

"El Tigre" Feasts Again!

H

     The tiger sharpens his claws.

Light Heavyweight Alfonso Lopez of Corpus Christi tacked on another win to his record against the winless Jason Lane of Arkansas.

One of the most remarkable aspects of the bout was that Lane lasted into the second round, as he had been knocked out in the first round in his previous five outings. But those bouts were against heavyweights, and Lane was able to survive a little longer at the lighter weight.

Still, a blistering combination to the head rocked Lane in round two, and El Tigre cornered his prey and then dropped him with a right, ending the fight at 1:23 of the second round. Lopez improves to 3-0 with 2 KO's.

Ch

Collins Clobbers Fulton!!

Heavyweight Steve Collins of Indiana hammered out a unanimous decision over journeyman Travis Fulton of Arkansas.

Fulton showed Collins' power a good deal of respect from the start, generally moving away & avoiding contact in round one, although Collins did land a solid body shot.

Fulton landed a right to the head in round two but a jab from Collins backed him up. Collins also landed a big left hook and then a right hand.

After a solid exchange between the two fighters to open round three, Fulton began to hold, for which the referee would eventually deduct a point.

Collins began going to the body in the fourth and final round, and a couple of solid rights to the head would put Fulton on the canvas.

All three judges scored the bout 40-34 for Collins, who improves to 15-1 with 12 KO's, while Fulton falls to 15-19 with 15 KO's.

Collins said after the match that he waited too long to attack Fulton's body.

"I think I waited about two rounds too long," he said. "He kept holding so it was difficult to go to the body. I learned that I'm in better shape than I think I am and that I need to go to the body more, and keep my spirits up, and go after them hard."

Hill Hammers Jackson!!

Heavyweight "Mean" Eugene Hill of Dickinson, Texas battered his opponent into oblivion in just one minute! Hill remains undefeated at 5-0 with 5 KO's. Othello Jackson of Monroe, Louisiana falls to 0-2.
