P

Middleweight Title Contender Jesus "Ernie" "El Martillo" Gonzales made short work of journeyman Anthony Greeley of Dallas!!!

Gonzales Grinds Greeley!!

Greeley seemed strong and brought a record of 7-23-2 with 1 KO. But while the bout was scheduled for ten rounds, The Hammer was clearly just too much.

The referee warned Greeley twice for low blows, and while Greeley, of Monroe, Louisiana, landed a couple of clean shots, Gonzales easily dominated the short match.

A straight left to the body from the southpaw Gonzales sent Greeley to the canvas, and the referee stopped the contest at 2:34 of the first round.

"I was setting him up with the left, and then he was waiting for the straight left (to the head) and he didn't expect the body shot. Me and Kenny were working on it," Gonzales said after the bout.

"We're on a path for Floyd Mayweather," said Gonzales' trainer and manager Kenny Weldon. "We want Floyd Mayweather and Ernie beat him to death sparring with him. We want him bad."

                  Gonzales improves to 22-1 with 12 KO's.

"El Jefe" Smashes Salter!

Heavyweight Bobby "El Jefe" Flores of Houston scored another quick knockout.

Flores weighed in at more than 300 pounds, while Salter looked close to that weight as well, and solid. It appeared as though there was some chance the bout would last longer than Flores' previous four outings, which lasted a combined total of one minute and 22 seconds.

But Flores opened fast and aggressive, bulling Salter into the ropes and then landing a right hand that wobbled him. Salter vainly tried to survive.

But the pressure and the power from Flores was too much, and a straight right hand to the chest ultimately sent him down.   The referee stopped the contest at 1:31 of the first round. Salter falls to 0-3 while Flores improves to 5-1 with 5 KO's.

Vallecillo Outpoints Osuna!

Justo "El Nica" Valencio of San Antonio took split decision to hand "Mighty" Marty Osuna of Houston his first professional loss!       In an excellent slugfest, the fighters traded big shots for four tough rounds.

Valencio opened round one with a straight right.

Osuna responded with a counter left to the head. The fighters exchanged body shots and Osuna landed a solid left uppercut to the head. The bombs continued throughout, with both fighters landing multiple shots to the body and head. The bout was originally declared a draw, but officials say that was actually a clerical error, and in the end while one judge gave all four rounds to Osuna, two other judges scored the bout 39-37 for Valencio.

.

"I thought I won the fight," Osuna said afterward. "He might have thrown more punches, but I landed more effective and bigger punches. I expected him to be tough, but we've just got to work on a few things.

"Lion" Munches "Hot Dog"!!

H      Jr. Welterweight John "The Lion" Rarden of Pasadena remains undefeated after pounding out a unanimous decision against Wayne "Hot Dog" Fletcher of Dallas.

The fighters traded shots throughout most of the six-round bout.

Rarden landed solid rights and lefts to the head while Fletcher closed the round with a big left hook to the body.

Rarden began hammering to the body in round two, and displayed great defense as he stood within inches of Fletcher and evaded multiple punches with his body movement.  Rarden then forced Greeley into the ropes and seemed to hurt him with a combination.

Rarden opened round three with a left hook to the body and was warned for a low blow shortly thereafter.  Trainer Kenny Weldon urged Rarden to punch on the second step, and The Lion landed a right to the head. Fletcher then fired back and landed with a multiple punch combination.

Rarden continued to land solid rights and lefts to the head of Greeley from the outside in round four and into round five. But Rarden began to pose and clown some late in round five, while Weldon yelled for him to keep his hands up.

"I'm too arrogant, too cocky, and I need to calm down," Rarden said after the fight. "I'm here for the fans. He (Weldon) says it don't please them, I think it does. I'm the man in the ring.

Rarden was clearly the man on this night as all three judges gave him all six rounds. "He's got a lot of experience so when he's hurt he knows what to do and he did his job. He held on and survived the round. I worked the jab really well today and I need to keep him out on the end more, not let a guy like that, real strong, just keep grabbing me like that."

"     Rarden improves to 8-0 with 2 KO's. While he does not have a high knockout ratio that may be reflective of the fact that he has generally fought more experienced opponents.

"You fight all these bums all the time, that doesn't help you. That doesn't make you better. Guys like this don't make me better, but it prepares me more for the tougher guys. I just do what Kenny tells me. If he wants to put a guy in there 30-0, that's who I'm going to fight."

Fletcher falls to 5-20-2 with 3 KO's.

Ch

"El Michoacano" Masters "El Gallito"!!

In an outstanding performance, Featherweight Benjamin "El Mochoacano Flores of Houston pounded out a vicious win over Adauto "El Gallito" Gonzales of Austin.

The match began with a blistering pace, as Gonzales ripped shots to the body of Flores, on the right in the photo above. Gonzales also landed a solid right uppercut and several other solid shots, looking to be the stronger of the two fighters.

But El Michoacano pressed the action early in round two, landing a combination to the body and a counter left hand that snapped Gonzales's head back.

Flores landed combinations to the head and then in round three opened with a right uppercut to the head and left hook to the body.

Gonzales fired back with a big body shot but it seemd to only make Flores more intense, and she urged his opponent to come forward and trade punches. The fighters traded multiple shots through rounds three, four and five.

Gonzales came out like a man possessed early in round six, throwing multiple shots, but Flores weather the onslaught and beckoned fore more once again. The motion seemed to deflate Gonzales, while Flores seemed to have gathered a second wind and looked surprisingly fresh for midway through the sixth and final round.

Gonzales landed a couple of bombs toward the end of the round but in the end it was a unanimous decision for "El Mochoacano".

Flores improves to 15-3 with 4 KO's.

"He's a good fighter," Flores said after the bout. " He gave me a tough fight. Better than I thought he was going to be. He's 7-1. Experienced fighter, dirty fighter. I like to please the crowd. Hopefully next October or November I'll fight for the N.A.B.A. title.".

Flores with trainer Bobby Benton

Jones Jams Bostwick!!

Heavyweight Jimmy Jones of Jew York City had little trouble with Timothy Bostwick of Fort Worth.

Jones quickly came out, landed a couple of shots and Bostwick went down. He complained that Jones hit him on the back of the head when he was down, and there was a large red mark on the back of Bostwick's neck. T

The referee asked Bostwick if he wanted to continue and he said no, so the bout was stopped after :41 seconds. Jones improves to 3-0

Lopez Crushes Crawford!!

Light Heavyweight Alphonso Lopez of Cut 'N Shoot, Texas made short work of Josh Crawford from Crossett, Arkansas. Crawford came out aggressive early but a solid body shot from Lopez sent him to the canvas and the referee stopped the contest at 1:07 of the first round.

LLopez brings an extensive amateur background into the pro fight game. He improves to 2-0.
