Alfonso "El Tigre" Lopez
of Houston took the Texas Super Middleweight Title with a
3rd round TKO over Billy Thompson of Garland, Texas!
See a clip of round two
above!! It happened at
the Civic Center in Humble, Texas on March 26th of 2009!!!
"El Tigre" Slashes Thompson!
Lopez easily
outclassed Thompson and the TKO came at 2:05 of round
three.
..
Thompson brought a
record of 8-9 with 3 KO's. He never posed a threat,
as Lopez connected from the outside early, increased
the pressure in the 2nd round and closed the deal in
round three. See his post-fight interview below!
..
Lopez remains undefeated at 13-0 with 11 KO's!

Washington
Whacks Jones!
Junior Middleweight Corey
Washington of Dallas won his pro debut with a solid win over
the powerful and aggressive Dustin Jones of Houston. Jones
opened the bout with a vicious, if unpolished attack!
See video of round one below!
..
Washington began to establish
dominance in the second round.
..
Two of the judges scored the
bout 40-33 for Washington, while the third had it 39-34,
giving him the unanimous decision. "He was kind of wild,"
said Washington after the match. "So I tried to use my
angles and everything. I didn't get to jab him much but I
guess I got the job done. I had him hurt a few times. He's a
pretty strong dude. He took some of my best shots. I give my
hat off to him you know because he did his thing."
Washington improves to 1-0
while Jones falls to 1-1 with 1 KO.
"Topita"
Nips Nash!
Welterweight Jose "Topita"
Gutierrez of Houston squeaked out a majority decision over
Deon Nash of New Orleans!
Gutierrez brought a
record of 12-5 with 9 KO's while Nash came in at 5-7
with 1 KO.
Nash is quite tall for a welterweight and
used his reach to score from the outside. His record
is deceptive.
Although Nash had lost his last six
bouts prior to this evening, four of those losses
were to undefeated fighters, and two were to
fighters with only one loss.
"Topita"
pressured Nash in the early rounds, but Nash began
to time Gutierrez as he came in, and caught "Topita"
with several hard right and left-hand counter shots.
See video of round three below!
..
Nash also hurt
Gutierrez with several body shots in the middle and
later rounds of the six-round bout. Topita was
losing steam in round five.
..
One judge saw the
bout 59-55 for Gutierrez, while another scored it
58-56 and the third called it a draw, making it a
majority decision for Gutierrez!
"Bam Bam"
Sacrifices Lamb!
Bantamweight Johanna
"Bam Bam" Mendez of Houston (right, below) did just enough to come
away with a win over veteran Lisa Lamb of Fort
Worth.
In fact the match was
probably the most uneventful of the evening, with
fighters trading some shots in round one.
Mendez
connected with the more solid shots to the head in
the first round as well as round two.
See video of
round three below!
..
Lamb brought a record
of 5-2 with 2 KO's. She was coming off a loss to
Crystal Delgado in November and she got more
aggressive in the 4th and final round, landing a
looping right hand to the head and a combination to
the face of shots to the face of Mendez. But it
wasn't enough and in the end Mendez won every round
on all three judges' cards for scores of 40-36.
Johanna Mendez
remains undefeated at 4-0-1 with 1 KO!
Moreno Sinks
Blankenship!
Heavyweight Steve Moreno of Killeen, Texas used
superior power and combinations to stop Mark
Blankenship of Houston! See video of round one
below.
..
Blankenship endured a cut on his right eye, while
the fighters continued to trade shots through round
two.
But Blankenship began to wear down and a
combination sent him to the canvas in the third.
Blankenship motioned to the referee that he did not
wish to continue and the ref stopped the contest at
:53 seconds of the third round.
Moreno improves to
1-1 with 1 KO while Blankenship lost his pro debut.
Reile
Derails
Delgado!!
Stacy "Stay-Lo" Reile of Miami, Florida scored a 6th round
TKO over previously unbeaten Crystal "Choo Choo" Delgado of
Houston!!
Delgado pressed the attack
from the outset and landed some good shots to the head of "Stay'Lo'.
..
See video of round three
below.
..
Delgado came in at 8-0 with
1 KO, while Reile, who came in ranked #10 in the world by
the IFBA, brought a record of 8-1 with 3 KO's.
Reile consistently hurt
Delgado with countershots to the
body.
By round five Delgado had slowed her attack and Reile
was landing the first shots in some exchanges.
..
After a body shot sent
Delgado to the canvas, the referee finally stopped
the contest at :23 seconds of the 6th round.

"Dynamite" Blows
Out "Hurricane"!!
Cruiserweight Willie "Dynamite" Edwards of Beaumont,
Texas outbashed Brent "Hurricane" Urban of Dallas in
a wildly entertaining brawl!!
See video of round
one below!
..
The fighters
hammered each other back and forth for four rounds.
Edwards jabbed and moved some in the second round
while Urban, who came in at 1-0 with 1 KO,
continued to pursue.
Urban ripped body
shots to Edwards and then ultimately luring
"Dynamite" back into the streetfight. But Edwards
was smiling as round two closed. See video of round
three below!
..
"He was the toughest
guy I ever fought," said Edwards after the match. "Ain't
nobody ever stood up like that to a good flush right
hand I put on them. I thought I've got to be
smart. I've got to get up under these shots, I've
got to have my defense, so you've seen me bobbing
and weaving, parrying punches, making him miss,
catching shots, trying to get inside, trying to look
for an opening, but he was tough. He kept switching
from southpaw to right-handed so it threw me off a
little bit but I got the 'W' so that's all that
counts."
Two judges scored the
bout 39-37 for Edwards, while the third had it
40-36, for a unanimous decision.
Willie "Dynamite"
Edwards remains undefeated at 6-0 with 3 KO's!
Ch
DiPace Defeats Gutierrez!
In a very satisfying
opening bout of the evening, bantamweight Sammy
DiPace of Las Cruces, New Mexico (left, below) outslugged the
dangerous Saul Gutierrez of Nuevo Laredo, Mexico!
"He's a durable guy,"
DiPace said after the bout. "He can take a shot. I
knew what I was in for. He's been in there with two
world champions and never been knocked out. I was
just trying to land hard shot, keep, him off me,
throw enough punches to keep him away and try to win
every round."
DiPace remains undefeated at 6-0 with 3 KO.!!
