Steve Collins had too
much speed and power for a gunshy Roderick Willis on February 11th of 2010!!
Jones
Hammers Herrera!
Heavyweight Justin Jones of Houston
outpointed Angel "El Gallo" Herrera of Houston over
four rounds.
Jones came in at 5-0-1 with 3 KO's while Herrera's record was 6-3-3 with 1 KO.
Jones weighed in at 234 lbs. to 244 for Herrera.

Jones had just knocked out Buddy Cochrane in the
first round in Texarkana Arkansas on January 20th,
while Herrera was coming off a unanimous four-round
decision over Douglas Robertson at Club El Portal in
Houston on September 17th.
Herrera is a wild-swinging brawler who gamely tried
to pressure Jones through much of the fight, but
lacked the conditioning to capitalize on his raw
strength.
Jones meanwhile showed good mobility and landed jabs, body shots and quick
combinations throughout the match.

skirmish against the durable Chris Abercrombie of Texarkana.

Abercrombie.

..
Scott had most recently TKO'd Cody Obenoskey in Texarkana on January 20th while Abercrombie's win was over Carl Pierce in Texarkana in October of 2008.
Abercrombie
proved to be a game opponent but was simply
overpowered by Scott in a match in which
neither fighter displayed an overabundance
of technique.
A barrage from Scott
forced Abercrombie to the canvas near the
end of the second round.
All three
judges scored the bout 40-35 for Scott.

In his most recent outing Valadez was KO'd in the first round by Leo Santa Cruz in California in November of '09.
Valadez came out
aggressively firing bombs and landed a few shots,
but Flores repeatedly ripped him with body shots and
uppercuts.
A left hook to the
body sent Valadez to the canvas in round three.
All three judges
scored the bout 40-35 for Flores, giving him the

"Freight Train" Rumbles Over "Big Rod"!
In the main event, Steve "Freight Train" Collins of Houston took on Roderick "Big Rod" Willis of Richardson, Texas.
Collins came in at 21-1 with 15 KO's while Willis brought a record of 14-5-1 with 8 KO's.
Collins weighed in at 259 lbs. to 250 for Willis.
See round one below!
..
Collins was coming off a unanimous eight-round decision over Billy Willis on October 8th, while
"Big Rod" Willis had lost his last five fights, and been knocked out in four of them, most recently by "Mean" Eugene Hill in Houston in September of 2008.
Willis did lose a ten-round split decision to former IBF/WBA heavyweight champion Michael Moorer in
October of 2007.
The southpaw Willis
attempted to use some mobility and a jab to
counteract Collins' considerable power, but he never
seemed to commit to victory, putting on a lackluster
performance. As a result, Collins won every round,
landing the occasional thundering body shot and
combination.
Round six below!
..
Each judge scored the
bout 60-54 for Collins, giving him the unanimous
decision!
