Chase Shields landed more punches throughout much of the fight to take a majority decision from Taronze Washington!

"White Tiger" Slashes Washington!

Shields came out more aggressive than normal early in this fight against Washington.

Shields won the earlier rounds with jabs and combinations, showing good strength, movement and conditioning. But it was the first time in 27 pro fights he faced someone with a winning record.

Washington landed a solid right to the head of Shields in round one, while Shields came back in the second round with a left-right combination and then an uppercut to the head.

Washington's corner continued to tell him through round three to "Be first" in the exchanges with Shields, but he generally was not, as Shields got off before Washington and landed the more solid shots. But Washington finished the round with three counter-right hands to the head of Shields, forcing him into the ropes and finishing with a combination of punches to the body and head.

Shields continued to land the jab against Washington in round four. Washington, who had lost his five previous fights, pressed forward, perhaps sensing he was falling behind on points.

Shields however remained elusive, and seemed to come out just slightly ahead on most exchanges.

Finally in round six Washington came back and ripped Shields with several big shots to the head, but unlike the lone loss in Shields' career earlier this year, in which he was caught with a big shot in the sixth round and suffered a TKO, the "White Tiger" never seemed hurt.

"Yeah he was tougher", (than some of Shields' earlier opponents), Shields said after the bout. "I missed with a lot of shots. I usually don't miss. I can always adapt and pull through. I wasn't moving my feet enough, being a little lazy, but it was good work for me. He was a good fighter, a tough fighter. I'm working hard. I'm ready for whoever. I'll fight whoever they give me."

Two judges scored the bout at 58-56 for Shields, while the third judge called it at 57-57, a draw. Shields improves to 25-1-1 with 13 KO's. Washington falls to 9-9 with 6 KO's.

"Choo Choo" Rolls Over Rodriguez!

Lightweight Crystal "Choo Choo" Delgado of Houston outpunched Maria Rodriguez of Brownsville.

The southpaw Delgado landed a variety of jabs and hooks, forcing Rodriguez to cover up for much of the fight.

"I'm a pressure fighter," Delgado said before the match. "Choo Choo" used that pressure to dominate the first two rounds.

.        Rodriguez landed some solid shots later in the fight, but Delgado kept coming.

All three judges scored the bout 40-36 for Delgado, who remains undefeated at 2-0. Rodriguez falls to 2-1.

Fletcher!

Jr. Welterweight Lanardo "Pain Server" Tyner of Detroit dished out discomfort to Wayne Fletcher of Dallas for four rounds.

Fletcher did land some solid shots to the head and body of Tyner early in the match. Tyner, who holds the Mid-American Jr. Welterweight title, moved permanently to Houston from Detroit earlier this year to train under former middleweight champion Frank Tate. It was Tyner's first fight in the Bayou City. Tyner is a classic slugger, and he ripped left hooks and overhand right bombs to the head and body of Fletcher throughout the contest.

Tyner floored Fletcher once in the third, while Fletcher took a knee in the fourth as the "Pain Server" went on to win a lopsided unanimous decision.

Lanardo Tyner remains undefeated at 18-0 with 10 KO's. Fletcher falls to 5-21-2 with 3 KO's.

"El Tigre" Whacks "Hit Man"!

Light Heavyweight Alfonso Lopez of Cut 'N Shoot, Texas overpowered Larry "Hit Man" Pryor of Houston, taking a 5th round TKO.

Pryor landed some good shots earlier in round one, but by round two Lopez, clearly the stronger of the two fighters, resorted to bulling the "Hit Man" into the ropes and leaning on him for several seconds at a time, while interspersing shots to the body and head.

The tactic worked. Pryor couldn't land his quick outside shots and began to show fatigue by the third round.

Pryor tried to fight off the ropes but Lopez was too strong, keeping up the pressure.

Pryor did not answer the bell for the fifth round.

Lopez improves to 4-0 with 4 KO's. Pryor falls to 2-3 with 1 KO.

Ch

Hill Dethrones Gillespie!!!

Eugene Hill of Dickinson, Texas took a majority decision over "King" Kirby Gillespie of Dallas.

Gillespie, left,  had good power in a solid jab that kept Hill at bay for much of the fight.  It wasn't until the sixth and final round that Hill began to land some of the big shots that had dispatched all of his previous opponents. But Gillespie displayed a solid chin and survived the onslaught.

"Mean" Eugene Hill of Dickinson went the full four-round distance for the first time in his seven-fight career. Two judges scored the bout for Hill, with scores of 40-36 and 39-37, while the third called it a draw, giving Hill the majority decision. He improves to 7-0 with 6 KO's. Gillespie falls to 1-1.

Valdivia Crushes Carillo!

Cruz Antonio "Li'l Tone" Valdivia of Houston, right, continues to devastate his opponents.

Valdivia came out blasting with both hands and knocked out Gerardo Carillo of Houston in :53 seconds of the first round!

Valdivia improves to 3-0 with 2 KO's. Carillo falls to 0-3.
